First woman to get Nobel prize






Since its inception in 1901, the Nobel Prize has been awarded to 44 women, did you know who is the first woman to get Nobel prize ?


The first woman to receive such an award was Marie Curie, for Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903. This distinction rewarded his research on the phenomenon of radiation, that she had undertaken with her husband Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel the teacher.

Eight years later, in 1911, Marie Curie was honored again: this time she received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering radium and polonium.


The last Nobel Prize awarded to a woman was awarded in 2011 to Tawakkul Karman. This activist from Yemen received the Nobel Peace Prize.  aged 32, she is one of the youngest Nobel prize of history.
